The China Study

Friday, November 5th, 2010

T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D., after many years of study came up with the science based book THE CHINA STUDY.

I realize that people basically “follow the leader”. It’s like the song “Give me that old time religion” “. . . if it’s good enough for . . . it’s good enough for me”.

What people don’t realize is that we have changed –and changed significantly.

In THE CHINA STUDY Dr. Campbell demonstrates that a good diet is the most powerful weapon we have against disease and sickness.

America’s health is failing. Just look at any pharmaceutical ad. They think they have a cure for everything or else they’ll get it tomorrow. The war on cancer was launched in the 1970s, and it is a miserable failure. Half of Americans have a health problem that requires taking a prescription drug. (I’m working in getting myself off drugs. I quit taking the statin drug Lipitor and now another doctor I’ve seen is mad at me. I’ve been off Lipitor over two years and feel better without it.)

We are leading our children down a path of disease ever earlier in their lives. Some doctors are prescribing drugs at one and two years of age. “When will we ever learn?”

Dr. Campbell was raised on a dairy farm. In school he was taught that cow’s milk make strong healthy bones and teeth. It was nature’s most perfect food.

For 10 years Dr. Campbell worked on a study for malnourished children in the Philippines. The thinking was they didn’t have enough protein, primarily from animals. What they found was those children who ate the highest protein diets were the ones most likely to get liver cancer. They were the children of the wealthiest families.

The Liver

Monday, June 8th, 2009

The liver performs over 500 vital functions, including:

·         Producing cholesterol and  special proteins to carry fats throughout the body

·         Converting excess sugar into glycogen for storage

·         Regulating blood levels of amino acids, which form building blocks of proteins

·         Clearing the blood of drugs and other poisonous substances

·         Regulating blood clotting

·         Producing immune factors and removing bacteria from the bloodstream

Excessive drinking of alcoholic drinks can lead to fatty liver, hepatitis, or cirrhosis.

In studies with mice giving resveratrol along with alcohol produced the same effect as if not drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. More studies need to be done but this may help recovering alcoholics lead a more normal life.
