The Cost of Cancer Treatment

Saturday, May 31st, 2014

Cancer is still a scary word for most people. I’ve had two types of cancer so our household is not afraid any longer.
But do you know the price? They have sky-rocketed. In 2012 11 of the 12 new drugs were above $100,000 annually. Why are they so high?
Most answers you get are not true.
Oncologists find that most new cancer drugs provide few clinical advantages over existing ones. Only one of the 12 new drugs help patients survive more than two months.
Industry claims that research costs are high. They don’t tell you that the government pays for most of this research.
The most famous claim is that it costs on average $1.3 billion to develop a new drug and get approved. In fact, half of that estimate is not research at all, it’s profits for the companies. Eliminating the profits brings the cost to $650 million. Taxpayers subsidize about half of the company research through credits and deductions granted to drug companies. Now the “cost” is $325 million.
Cutting out distortions brings the cost to $230 million. Now take the median price for new drugs instead of the highest cost lowers it to $170 million.
In cancer research most of the basic costs are paid by the National Cancer Institute and foundations.

So what we have is price-gouging by the pharmaceutical companies.
On top of this they raise the price of older drugs about 20 to 25 percent a year. (Wouldn’t you like to get a 20 percent raise each year?)

Now is this $1.3 billion worth the extra two months a life – many times lived in pain and suffering.

Tell your congressman you would like to see this price-gouging stopped.

Leading Cause of Death

Saturday, April 12th, 2014

Ahead of cancer, breast or lung, the leading cause of death is heart attack and cardiac arrest. Yet it doesn’t get near the publicity as cancer.
Cancer victims can survive for years. I have. But most cardiac arrest patients don’t survive. When I had my cardiac arrest in 2007 only 5 percent of people with cardiac arrest survived. Today the figures aren’t much higher throughout the nation.
The difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest is that (in simple terms) heart attack is mechanical and cardiac arrest is electrical.
And improper food and lack of exercise are leading causes. Rarely is it in the genes.

The Importance of Plant Foods

Saturday, November 30th, 2013

A compound called D-glucarate is found in grapefruit, apples, oranges, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts.D-glucarate has been shown to protect against cancer-causing agents by supporting detoxification and removal of dangerous chemicals, and also by protecting against the mutating effects that these carcinogens induce on cellular DNA.

This is important because the body is bombarded with carcinogens on a daily basis. These cancer-causing agents include pesticides, overcooked food, alcohol, food additives, tobacco, fungal mutagens, and industrial pollutants. And this is impossible to avoid living anywhere in the United States.

Meat Increases Breast Cancer Risk

Thursday, November 28th, 2013

Studies have consistently shown that what we eat affects our cancer risk. And women who eat more red meat suffer higher breast cancer rates. In a study of postmenopausal Chinese women who ate a Western-style diet (which included beef, pork, and desserts) found they were 30% more likely to develop breast cancer than those eating a diet of vegetables and soy.

What isn’t known from this study is whether meat from “free range” animals also increases breast cancer.

Soy May Reduce Breast Cancer Risk

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

According to the November issue of Life Extension studies have shown that the risk in breast cancer among women may be cut in half if they consumed more soy.

Isoflavones derived from soy have shown promise in providing natural protection against multiple types of cancer.

Mutation of Genes Cause Cancer

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

Cancer results from the mutation of genes that regulate cellular proliferation. Some of this DNA gene damage is caused by excess oxidation. Some studies suggest that 1 in 12 cancers might be prevented by taking higher levels of antioxidants.

In 1941 a study in the journal Cancer Research showed people living in the higher latitudes had a higher rate of cancer. It was the lack of vitamin D that raised the death rate by 51%.

In 2006 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute showed the results of a large study that higher vitamin D levels, from 20 (ng/mL) to 50 (ng/mL) would reduce cancer occurrences  by 51%. That’s about 4,500 IU of vitamin D supplements.

That’s only part of the story. You will find the rest at Life Extension, May 2013

Inflammation and Most Cancers

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

A common under-recognized molecule that most people have never heard of: nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kB), is implicated in about 95% of all cancers.

A landmark study published late in 2011 confirmed NK-kB’s central role in the onset of malignant breast cancer.

NK-kB is the master regulator of this cancer causing process. Researchers recognized that if they could block activation of NF-kB, they might break the essential link in cancer development.

There are a number of nutrients that can slow or stop NK-kB’s development. Estimates from 67% to 90% of human cancers could be prevented by modifying lifestyle -especially diet.

Phytochemicals in fruits and vegetables as well as many spices can help prevent cancer.

Vitamins C and E, carotenoids, the so-called theol antioxidants and others are under review for blocking NF-kB.

Pioneer Doctors

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

With an epidemic at hand and the poor results from “standard of care” chemotherapy medicine, it’s exciting to find doctors who will risk attack, lawsuits, ridicule and ostracization to think outside the box and CURE people with stage IV cancer. Non of these doctors have 100 percent cure rate but their rates are much, much higher than “standard of care” medicine.

Dr. Albert Braverman, M.D. states: “Many oncologists recommend chemotherapy for almost any type of cancer, with a faith that is unshaken by the almost constant failure.”

For years the Texas Medical Board tried to take away Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski’s medical license.  The FDA tried to put him in jail. His patients were passionate about defending him because they had been cancer free for years. Now if you still can’t use the word “Cured” that’s your problem. But 15, 20 years is a long time to be without cancer showing up in any xrays or scans. It was finally congress which stepped in and forced the FDA to allow him to continue.

Another champion is Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, from Manhattan, who treats all kinds of cancer patients. Dr. Gonzalez’s protocol is individualized diet, individualized supplementation, and intensive detoxification. The diets he prescribes range from a raw vegetarian diet to a red-meat one. Each is individualized.

Suzanne Somers KNOCKOUT

Suzanne Somers Story

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Conventional medicine’s approach to cancer prevention and treatment is a debilitating and often deadly fraud. The problem runs deeper than just the doctors who are following protocol. The underlying issue is that the entire cancer treatment “industry” has been following a faulty paradigm for close to 100 years.

Paradigms, a belief system, can be harmful. For centuries it was a religious doctrine that the sun revolved around the earth. Galileo proved 400 years ago that it just wasn’t so. So he was threatened with torture until he recanted of what he knew to be true and was placed under house arrest for the rest of his life.

It’s just as bad today for doctors who will tell you that chemotherapy doesn’t work 97 percent of the time. There are CURES for cancer through nutrition and and alternative means.

Suzanne Somers tells her story of how she was “diagnosed” with full body cancer by four doctors plus the emergency room doctor and the radiologist, only to resist and find out she did not have cancer. They were willing to kill her with drugs to get at an enemy that was not there. When the doctors find she doesn’t have cancer, Dr. “Oncologist” comes into her hospital room and angrily tells Suzanne she should have told them she was on steroids. Another mistake. Suzanne wasn’t on steroids.

Totally misdiagnosed Suzanne finally struggles home only to be given more medicine that will kill her.

Suzanne Somers tells her story because she, a well-known health advocate, a bestselling author of health books, and a famous person, was almost poisoned to death by the “health industry”. What happens to the average person that just goes along with any doctor’s diagnosis?
